Don't know what to wear to your college interview? Here are a few tips.
FOR WOMEN:
1. A dress, skirt, or pants are appropriate based on the season. If it's summer, don't wear heavy jeans, and if it's winter, don't wear a light skirt.
2. Try to stick to neutral colors.
3. A blouse or sweater makes for a nice top. Your shirt is important; it probably the first thing the interviewer will notice.
4. Choose comfortable, professional shoes, like ballet flats (preferably black or taupe).
5. If you choose to bring a bag, bring a small handbag or purse, not a briefcase.
6. Limit jewelry to a few subtle pieces.
7. Keep your hair simple and pulled back.
8. Clean your nails, even if they don't have polish.
9. Keep piercings and tattoos tasteful and not distracting.
FOR MEN:
1. Avoid a suit.
2. Wear a clean, ironed button-down or polo shirt with a collar.
3. Use ties sparingly, generally only for business school interviews.
4. Khakis are a good choice for pants.
5. Try to avoid shorts.
6. Wear a belt!
7. Wear brown or black leather shoes.
8. Keep piercings and tattoos subtle.
9. Keep your hair subtle. If it is already green, there is no need to change it, but I wouldn't recommend getting a purple dye job the night before your interview.
Use these tips to help your interview soar! Remember, dressing for success is the first step!
