Hello!
We are moving right along with the "Improve your scores" series; we are already discussing the SAT!
Here a few tips to help you boost your SAT Critical Reading score!
1. On sentence completion questions, fill in the blank before you answer the question. This will help prevent you from choosing familiar words even if they are wrong.
2. If you read slowly, only skin the passages. Most of the questions refer to specific points in the passage, and you can read those if you need to.
3. Summarize passages as you read them. Write a one-to-three word note in the margin of each paragraph to summarize what it was about and "index" the paragraphs.
4. Avoid extreme words, such as always, never, definitely, certainly, etc. Answer choices that include such words are almost always wrong!
5. Figure out the main idea of the passage. Discovering the purpose and tone will help you choose answers that match this intent and feeling. If an answer choice doesn't match the tone or purpose, it is usually wrong!
Use these tips, and I hope you see an improvement in your score!
Best,
