Hello!
We're moving right along with our "Improving your scores" series; we're already covering the final ACT section--writing!
Here are 4 tips to help you boost your score:
1. Don't skip the brainstorm/outline phase. Plan your arguments BEFORE you begin writing, so you don't start an essay and realize you have nothing to develop. You won't have time to start over.
2. Develop a clear thesis. As hokey as it may sound, make sure you have ONE argument, and 3 supporting details or 2 plus a counterargument (preferred). This will strengthen your flow and format.
3. Use concrete examples; nothing will lower your score like underdeveloped support. If you make the grader think, you're likely looking at a 12-point essay.
4. PRACTICE!
Best of luck; I hope this helps you improve your score!
