Hello there!
Today's tip is going to focus on one of the most important aspects of the college application process-applying for scholarships. Here are a few tips to guide you along your search.
1. Avoid scams. How can you recognize a scam? Don't pay anyone to help you fill out financial aid forms, particularly the FAFSA (for more information on the FAFSA click here!) Don't pay for scholarships counseling; you can easily do you own search for free.
2. Use scholarship locator tools, such as the one from the US Department of Labor or the one from College Board.
3. Ask someone for help! Ask the school you're looking into about their financial aid or scholarships; ask your high school counselor; look for federal aid; look for state grants; look at your library's bulletin; look to local business, groups, and/or organizations; look to your parents' employer(s).
Shortly put, there is a look out there; you just need to put in a little time to look for it!
Best of luck!
