Dear Senior:
As many of you know, now is the time that many of you have received, are receiving, or will receive responses from colleges regarding your early application status. Some of these are acceptances, and to those of you who earned acceptance...
CONGRATULATIONS!
However, to the vast majority that have been deferred, it's time for more waiting. Many colleges "prefer to defer" the vast majority of their candidates, because they do not want to reject moderately qualified applicants.
Unfortunately, this means that even the majority of deferred applicants are ultimately rejected. However, if you have been deferred, do not lose hope! You are still just as nervous as those applying regular action, and some colleges have sen shown increased acceptance for deferred applicants. Some years, Stanford has shown a two and a half time greater acceptance for deferred applicants than the rest of the general pool. Nice odds!
So, from TOC, keep your head up! It's only a few months longer.
