Dear Senior:
If you've wanted to go to Yale for years, so has every other applicant. This sentence means almost nothing to admissions officers. Besides, when you're a toddler, you want to go to Yale because it's the only college you've heard of. So that's not exactly impressive, is it?
Also, this doesn't show a college you're interested, as you might think. What shows interest is if you're able to say:
I want to go to Yale because this professor recently won a fields medal in this theory, which I have been involved in researching with a local professor.
Sounds a little more quantitative, doesn't it?
So, all in all, don't tell Yale that you've been wanting to go there since you were a child. Tell them why.
Best of luck!
