I'm sure you've taken the SAT by now. I'm sure you've been stumped on one or two of the vocal questions (on words like "inchoate" and "ribald"). These question generally tend to stump even the strongest of students. You may say that since there are less than 10 questions total on these vocabulary problems. However, 10 problems can mean more than 80 fewer points! That's quite a bit. So I have three tips for you to improve your vocabulary:
It might sound prosaic, but I guarantee it will be worth a 750 over a 650.

- Read classics ( Particularly Moby Dick.)
- Take a vocabulary class online! There are a plethora of free resources and flashcards and such. The best vocabulary class I know is is from CollegePrepResults (on our recommended sites), the My Vocabulary Success Coach.
- Go online and study. Find words, buy books, and just immerse yourself in as much vocabulary as possible.
It might sound prosaic, but I guarantee it will be worth a 750 over a 650.
