Dear Senior,
I'm sure you understand the idea of selectivity. I'm sure you understand the idea of safety schools. Now I want to explain the concept known as "realistic".
You are applying to safety schools, good chance schools, and reach schools.
Safety Schools = You are essentially guaranteed acceptance (ex: schools with 80+% acceptance rates and such).
Good chance schools: Schools where those with credentials like yours are generally accepted.
Reach schools: Schools with low acceptance rates, where the odds are not in your favor (ex: schools with 9% or less acceptance).
I am not here to discourage; rather I am here to reinforce that you will not often be accepted into all or even any of your reach schools. It bothers me when people say they think Harvard will be a "shoe-in". It won't be.
Do not be arrogant like that, please.
Best regards,
The Online Counselor
